VUS Case of the Month - April/May 2019

Signalment & History:

  • 8 yo, MN, Cavachon
  • History of eating cake 1.5 weeks ago.  Vomited 2 to 3 days after but was normal for the next 7 days.  Started vomiting again 3 days ago with decrease eating and drinking.
  • Pertinent lab work:
    • Abnormal snap cPL
    • Elevated ALP,
    • Mildly elevated WBC
    • Platelets = 122.
    • UA:  WBC > 100, pH 8.5, turbid
  • Exam: very painful abdomen, mild fever at 104.
