2009 Radiology Exam - Ultrasound Case 1

History: 8 year old FS Bulldog presenting with a 3 month history of intermittent vomiting.

Findings:

  • Large defect in the gastric wall at the luminal surface containing fluid and gas.
  • Regional wall thickening.
  • Loss of normal layers.
  • No evidence of local peritonitis

Differentials:

  • Gastric ulcer resulting from inflammation, neoplasia or drug administration. No evidence of perforation.

Recommendations:

Gastroscopy with biopsy, laparotomy with biopsy, thoracic radiographs for metastatic disease, medical management.
