Scope and Aims

  • Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound is a bimonthly, international, peer-reviewed, research journal devoted to the fields of veterinary diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology. Established in 1958, it is the official journal of the American College of Veterinary Radiology, European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, European Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, Australasian Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, and the International Veterinary Radiology Association. Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound is also represented on the Committee on Publication Ethics.
  • The mission of Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound is to serve as a leading resource for high quality articles that advance scientific knowledge and standards of clinical practice in the areas of veterinary diagnostic radiology, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasonography, nuclear imaging, radiation oncology, and interventional radiology. Manuscript types include original investigations, imaging diagnosis reports, review articles, editorials and letters to the Editor. Acceptance criteria include originality, significance, scientific quality, reader interest, composition and adherence to author guidelines.
  • The time from submission to first decision averages 26 days. Currently papers are published online with a DOI and Pubmed ID on Wiley-Blackwell’s “EarlyView” within 60 working days from the date of final edit.

2014 Impact Factor

  • The 2014 Impact Factor (IF) for VRU is 1.453 and the journal is ranked 32 out of 133 journals in the Veterinary Sciences category – bringing VRU into the top 25% of journals indexed in the category. This is an increase from 1.262 and 38/129 in 2013 and VRU’s highest IF to date!

Subscribe to Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound

There are two ways to subscribe to Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound:

  • Join an ACVR Society/Renew Society Membership - The ACVR handles access and all Journal subscriber information. Society membership includes a Journal subscription. You will receive both online access and printed issues. If you wish to conserve paper, to request online-only access, please contact the Webmaster using the Contact Us email form. However, there is no change in subscription price.
  • Subscribe to the Journal Only - No ACVR Society Membership. Subscription directly through Wiley Online Library. Wiley Online Library handles access and all Journal subscriber information.

After signing up for an account at Wiley, you can choose to get 'Table of Contents' alerts for any of their journals.
  • Anywhere Article - This new layout presents Journal HTML articles in a clutter-free way for easy reading as well as optimizes the reading experience for any device. This new functionality goes nicely with the new online-only subscription option we now have in place.
