Small Animal Ultrasound Basic Level Seminar
Atlanta, GA
March 6-7, 2010
This basic level seminar will cover material that is applicable to veterinarians and vet technicians who are new to ultrasound or would like to reemphasize their basic knowledge. Seminar location: Georgia Veterinary Specialists. This course qualifies for 16 hours of C.E. credits and it will encompass both lecture and hands-on experience in echocardiography and abdominal ultrasonography. Veterinary Cancer Society Mid-Year Symposium

With the recent marketing of Palladia and Kinavet, this year's topic of "Targeted Therapies" is timely. With many wonderful speakers in attendance such as Cheryl London, Phil Bergman and Ilene Kurzman, Barb Kitchell, Doug Thamm and Chand Khanna you won't want to miss it. The keynote speakers include Karen Milligan, M.D., from the Nevada Cancer Institute who will present "Current Trends in Breast Cancer Treatment" and Tricia Carrigan, Ph.D., from the Center for Innovations in Medicine at the Biodesign Institute of Arizona State University, who will discuss "Developing New Diagnostic Platforms for Early Cancer Detection." Nuclear Medicine Short Course

The University of Tennessee will be offering it annual Nuclear Medicine Short Course on March 26-28, 2010. The course is intended as a general review of nuclear medicine. It will include a review of the basic principles of nuclear medicine and image processing, common nuclear medicine imaging procedures, interpretative principles and case examples. Four laboratory sessions (case interpretation) are included in the short course. The majority of topics will be small animal applications, but the course will also include a review of equine nuclear medicine (specifically, bone scintigraphy). Deadline for registration is January 22, 2010. Registration will be limited to a maximum of 32 participants to ensure an optimal learning experience in lectures and labs. A minimum of 20 participants is required; if registration is below this number on January 22, individuals will be informed of the cancellation of the course and registration refunds will be issued.

Small Animal Abdominal Ultrasound Short Course
Purdue University
April 9-10, 2010
This is an introductory course on small animal abdominal ultrasound. The course will be conducted by four board- certified veterinary radiologists and two veterinary radiology residents with the assistance of registered veterinary technicians. The course is geared toward those practitioners who have little or no experience in abdominal ultrasonography. The course will cover all aspects of ultrasonography from basic ultrasound principles, machine operation and scanning techniques, to analysis of individual organs and systems within the abdomen. This course will be conducted over one and one half days with didactic lectures and hands-on experience as noted in the course outline. Emphasis of the hands-on portion is on development of a standard scanning routine and normal ultrasonographic appearance of abdominal organs. 6th European Veterinary MRI-User Meeting

The 6th European MRI-User Meeting will take place, in Merelbeke, Belgium, May 7-8, 2010. Meeting topics include soft tissue imaging and thoracic imaging in small animals, new ideas in tendon imaging in horses, and inversion recovery sequences and fat-suppression sequences.
