Description: The Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern is soliciting applications for one full-time radiology faculty position. The position is available as either clinical or tenure track appointment. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience and career goals. Candidates must have a veterinary degree and be board certified by the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, the American College of Veterinary Radiology, or have equivalent specialist or research qualifications (PhD). Solid knowledge and competence in general radiology and ultrasound is required.

Responsibilities are participation and co-supervision in the clinical imaging service (small and large animal); didactic instruction of veterinary students, interns and residents; cooperation with other faculty members in the development of teaching programs and collaboration in research projects. Tenure track position includes initiation of an independent or collaborative research program.

Team and Facilities: Our radiology division currently includes 3 board-certified (ECVDI) radiologists, 3 residents and 3 technicians. The modern hospital has been built in 2004 and is equipped with modern imaging technology including filmless radiology service. The facilities include two reading and seminar rooms with five, dual-monitor work stations and beamers for viewing, discussing, teaching and reporting imaging studies. The hospital uses a computerized patient data-management system which is available at each imaging station throughout the radiology section. On site imaging equipment includes: two small animal radiography units, one with DSA and fluoroscopy, computed radiography (Fuji), two high-end ultrasound units (Siemens Sequoia and Aloka Alpha 10), one portable ultrasound unit, one large animal radiography unit, nuclear medicine (GE Millenium MPR camera/ Hermes station), a low-field MRI unit (Hitachi) and a 16 slice CT unit (Philips) with 3-D work station.
