Veterinary Radiologist – Temporary Position / Short Time Locums

Description: The Norwegian School of Veterinary Science invites one or more applicants to fill one position as clinical instructor in Veterinary Radiology. We are in most need of a person for the months August and September -09, but would also be interested in locums outside these months (particularly July). We consider short time locums with a minumum of two weeks will be acceptable, but periods of longer duration are preferred. English is accepted as teaching language.

The summer and fall in Norway is usually a fantastic time here, just about perfect weather that allows outdoor activities at all times, the school is located in the city with all the urban facilities at the doorstep, but it would only take a short buss/tram ride to get to out to the large forest around the city where you can bike or hike for miles and miles, visit small lakes or meet friendly people at the popular public cottages. Or go to the beach.

The position is placed at The Department of Companion Animal Clinical Sciences/ Radiology Section. The department has a large local practice, but is also one of the principal referral hospitals for small and large animals in Norway. The clinical services include small and large animal medicine and surgery, anaesthesiology and radiology. The Radiology Section is well equipped, and serves both the large- and small animal hospitals. In addition to digital radiography equipment (Kodak CR and PACS system), we have Helical CT (GE High speed single slice), scintigraphy, and two ultrasound machines (GE E9 and Philips HDI 5000). All modalities are used for studies of both large and small animals.

We are three faculty radiologists (one board certified), and four technicians. The radiology section is recognized to be a very friendly and non-stressful place to be and to work, and the positive spirit is contagious! The interaction with colleagues and the mixture of local practice and referral cases provides an interesting caseload and a vibrant learning environment.

Office hours for the radiology section are from 8 am until 3 pm in the summer, and from 8 am until 3.45 pm after the 15th of September. There are no after-hours duties.

Qualifications:

A DVM/VMD or equivalent degree is mandatory, and preferably the applicant should be board certified in radiology. Board eligible or other experienced applicants are also encouraged to apply.

Duties:

Job duties include participation in reading and teaching small and large animal radiology. Clinic and teaching responsibilities will be shared with two other full time radiologists.

The position is paid according to salary code 1308 and the applicant’s qualifications, minimum NOK 301 700,- on a yearly basis. Salary and potential refund of travel expenses is negotiable. Membership in the State Pension Fund is mandatory.
