Description: We are currently accepting applications for a 1 year radiation oncology internship.

Intern applicants must have completed a 4 year veterinary degree and a 1 year rotating internship or its equivalent by the start of the program.

The goal of each of this 1 year internship is to develop the intern’s decision-making skills and improve the intern’s application for a radiation oncology residency.  A board certified radiation oncologist and 2 board certified medical oncologists work in our practice. Radiation therapy equipment includes a 6 MEV linear accelerator with electrons, IMRT, and a 3-D radiation dosimetry system linked to a spiral CT and MR.

Our intern is expected to be highly motivated and work well with experienced veterinary technicians and other well-trained hospital support staff. The intern will have an opportunity for a 2 week rotation in our specialty practice in Dallas.

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, http://www.gcvs.com, is an organization of closely interacting veterinary referral practices. The 54,000 square foot facility houses 22 boarded veterinary specialists collaborating to bring state-of-the-art medicine to our clients and patients. In addition to oncology, the hospital offers specialty services in surgery, neurology, internal medicine, critical care, diagnostic imaging, dermatology and allergy, and avian and exotics. A full-service national laboratory including on-site boarded cytopathologist and a large emergency clinic are also located in the building.
