We are currently seeking applications for a highly motivated Senior Lecturer (Level C)/Associate Professor (Level D) in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. The successful candidate would join an imaging team composed of one board-certified radiologist supported by two experienced technicians and two imaging residents.

The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Sydney (UVTHS) and the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Camden (UVTHC) have both undergone a significant equipment upgrade and have state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment that makes it one of the best equipped small and large animal hospitals in Australia. Recently installed, 7th generation 16 slice CT, X-ray machines, digital (CR) radiography, ultrasound, scintigraphy, videoendoscopy and 2 low-field MRI machines are available for the appointee to provide diagnostic imaging service, teach clinical services in the veterinary undergraduate program and conduct relevant research studies.

Working alongside specialists renowned for their work in the veterinary sciences, you will join a highly specialised imaging environment in Australia’s premier AVMA-accredited University teaching veterinary hospitals.

Some of your responsibilities will be to:

  • provide high quality clinical service
  • participate in the faculty’s clinical research programs
  • coordinate large and small animal radiology teaching at Camden and Sydney
  • act as unit coordinator in diagnostic imaging or related units of study
  • assist in the supervision of honours or postgraduate students
  • take part in the development, teaching and assessment in the veterinary science curriculum with an emphasis on diagnostic imaging.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • a PhD essential at level D or postgraduate qualification in the area of veterinary diagnostic imaging essential at level C with minimum requirement of eligibility for such a qualification
  • specialist qualification in veterinary diagnostic imaging, registrable in NSW
  • publications relevant to diagnostic imaging
  • some level of expertise in large and small animal diagnostic imaging
  • experience in large referral centre or teaching hospital
  • experience in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching
  • ability to provide leadership in teaching and clinical service.

The position is 0.8 of full-time continuing (negotiable) subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period. Visa sponsorship, some relocation expenses and competitive remuneration package will be available for the successful appointee.

Remuneration package: A competitive remuneration package is available (consisting of a base salary, market loading, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
