Summit Veterinary Referral Center is seeking a board certified or board eligible Veterinary Radiologist to join our well-established specialty referral center in Tacoma, WA.

Veterinary medicine is constantly evolving, and every veterinarian must be a lifelong student. Our specialists provide formal continuing education seminars for referring veterinarians throughout the Puget Sound area, in addition to being available for consultations regarding specific patients. We also believe that we have a responsibility to contribute to the growing body of knowledge in each of our fields, and we do participate in clinical research trials when provided the opportunity.

Our spacious facility is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, MRI, and a 16-slice CT. Colleagues will include surgery, oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology, internal medicine, radiology, and  24/7 ER/critical care.  We have plans for future equipment upgrades and would love to work with you to ensure long-term success.

The Radiologist—under the guidance of the Medical Director and with the support of the Chief Operating Officer—educates clients and referring veterinarians on, advocates for, and strives to deliver the highest diagnostics from radiographs, ultrasound, MRI, and CT.  

Skills and Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
  • Residency training with certification in Veterinary Radiology.
  • Ability to become licensed to practice in the state of Washington.
  • Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude.
  • Excellent communication with clients, peers, and referring Veterinarians.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish a good rapport with referring veterinarians, including: timely professional and respectful communication; assistance in their professional growth and education through recommendations and interaction on referred and shared cases; ongoing development of a positive and professional working relationship; participation in Continuing Education involving the local referral community.
  • Assist in the development and training of the team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
  • Assist with marketing the services of the specialty practice through a variety of outreach programs, some of which include: making hospital visits to referring veterinarians, assisting with local CE meetings, answering all calls from referring veterinarians promptly, helping with production of hospital newsletters and case reports.
  • Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
