The Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences at Massey University, Palmerston North, invites applications for a tenured position in veterinary diagnostic imaging. Our AVMA-accredited veterinary programme is world-renowned providing quality, research-led education. The University is situated in Palmerston North, a provincial University town that is ideal for raising a family and for pursuing the great New Zealand outdoors. This is a key academic post for a candidate who wishes to establish or maintain an academic career as a member of a dynamic diagnostic imaging team. The radiology team fully-staffed comprises of two board-certified radiologists, a resident, an experienced veterinarian (who is also studying towards a specialist qualification in imaging), and 2.6 FTE imaging technicians.

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is equipped with Eklin digital radiography, a Philips ultrasound machine and a Philips 16 slice helical CT scanner equipped with a table for imaging equine skulls and limbs. MRI is available locally.

The VTH sustains a moderate but varied caseload that provides a continued challenge and growth in imaging. The caseload, though demanding, is not overwhelming. You will be expected to either develop a research programme or be an active member of an existing research programme. The clinical faculty is small and there is excellent collegiality and collaboration with academic clinicians in allied disciplines.

As the successful candidate, you will be primarily involved with:

• Teaching diagnostic imaging to veterinary and veterinary technology students, interns and residents
• Research, either as a part of an established team, or through the development of your own research programme
• Contributing to the clinical diagnostic imaging service.

You must hold a veterinary degree which can be registered with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand and you must either be eligible to register as a specialist in diagnostic imaging in New Zealand or be eligible to sit specialist examinations in diagnostic imaging.

A PhD (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential. With agreement from the Head of Institute, you may be able to study for a higher degree.
