Locum in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (USA and Canada)
Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences
Palmerston North

The Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand invites applications for a locum in veterinary diagnostic imaging. This is a perfect opportunity to explore beautiful New Zealand and enjoy the best the outdoors has to offer in a friendly environment. This opportunity would suit skiers and lovers of the great outdoors, and purveyors of great coffee, fine food and wine.

The position is available from 14 January 2013 to 27 September 2014. Consideration would be given to applicants who are only available for a part of this time.

The VTH sustains a moderate but varied caseload and though demanding, is not overwhelming. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is equipped with Eklin digital radiography, a Philips ultrasound machine and a Philips 16 slice helical CT scanner equipped with a table for imaging equine skulls and limbs. MRI is available locally.

We have a team of two radiologists (one part time), two residents and three medical radiation technologists.

You will be primarily involved with:

  • Teaching diagnostic imaging to veterinary and veterinary technology students, interns and residents
  • Contributing to the clinical diagnostic imaging service.

You must hold a veterinary degree which can be registered with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand and you must be eligible to register as a specialist in diagnostic imaging in New Zealand (American or European Boards of Fellowship of the Australia New Zealand College).
