VCA Veterinary Referral Associates is seeking an experienced Veterinary Radiologist to join the exceptional team at our full-service, 24-hour emergency and specialty referral practice in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
VCA VRA is one of the oldest and most-respected specialty-only facilities in the country. Since opening its doors in 1977, the hospital has had a very specific mission: to offer the best in secondary and tertiary and referral care available. This mission was expanded about 15 years ago to include a first rate team of specialists to oversee a 24 hour, 7 day per week emergency service.
We offer specialized care in Ophthalmology, Soft-Tissue and Orthopedic surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Radiology, Radiation Therapy, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, and Rehabilitation. We have an on-site Cardiology group.
We provide these services in a new state-of the-art 30,000 square foot building. This building houses numerous areas for specialized equipment. We have CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Endoscopy of all kinds, two Under Water Treadmills, a Therapy Pool, and a vast assortment of other pieces of equipment normally seen in a facility of this type (operating microscope, EMG, two radiology suites, etc.)
VCA VRA is approximately 30 minutes from the District of Columbia and is serviced by three international airports. The diversity of available lifestyles is hard to beat. One can live in a vibrant college type environment in Georgetown or on a dairy farm in Poolesville, and still be an easy drive from the practice.
We generally have about 10 rotating interns and 3-4 residents. Our current resident class is involved in internal medicine or critical care programs. We have graduated some top-notch residents and interns who have made us proud at other facilities all over the country.
The VCA VRA hospital has developed a team-work approach and an unwavering vision to help our animal charges with the best and most compassionate care available. This hospital has been recognized internationally and has trained young specialists from countries all over the world.
We remain proud of our vision and have continued to improve on the shoulders of a dedicated staff.
The Specialist in Veterinary Radiology—under the guidance of the Medical Director and with the support of the Regional Medical Director—carries out VCA’s promise to our clients: making their pet’s health our top priority and excellent service our goal. The Radiologist educates referring veterinarians on, advocates for, and strives to deliver the highest quality medical, surgical, dental, and nutritional diagnostics, treatment, and preventative care to companion animals.
