The Animal Health Trust is a large, UK-based veterinary institute dedicated to promoting animal welfare through improved understanding of diseases in dogs, cats and horses and is situated in a beautiful, rural location four miles from Newmarket, about an hour’s journey from London. We have both a multidisciplinary small animal and an equine referral clinic along with number of research groups including virology, epidemiology, pathology, genetics and molecular oncology (see www.aht.org.uk).
Our small animal clinic is a referral-only hospital and is committed to providing the highest standards of patient care. We have a large number of specialists and an active programme of clinical research and post-graduate training (internships and residencies). The diagnostic imaging group works closely with clinicians in other disciplines including neurology, ophthalmology, oncology, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, dermatology, anaesthesia and critical care. The pathology and clinical pathology laboratories at the AHT complement the clinical services, providing a full on-site diagnostic service.
As our final year resident is leaving us in June to return to his native country we are looking for a small animal radiologist to join our imaging team from summer or autumn 2016. Although a permanent staff member is sought, consideration will be given to applications for locum posts. The successful candidate will be either ECVDI/ACVR board-certified (or equivalent) or board-eligible and will join a team of three other Board-certified radiologists, one Board-eligible radiologist, two residents and a radiography nurse. All imaging facilities are available on site, including 1.5T MRI, 16-slice CT, digital radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasonography and scintigraphy.
Starting salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications and includes a Market Force Supplement. The AHT offers an excellent work-life balance and in addition our remuneration package includes an excellent pension scheme with employer contribution rates of 16%, life assurance of three times salary, up to 30 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, employee health plan worth £850 per annum and employee assistance scheme, generous CPD allowance and time off clinics for clinical research.
For further information or an informal and confidential discussion please contact Ruth Dennis, Head of Diagnostic Imaging, e-mail: email@example.com or alternatively telephone +44 1638 555626. Please note that extensive prior experience with MRI (low or high field) is not necessary as we have a very good system for mentoring and support and an excellent track record with exam success. We are a small and very friendly unit and the clinic is very international in staffing with an excellent social life for those far from home! Well-behaved dogs are permitted to come to work and stay in offices, and can be exercised in the extensive grounds.
