Submitted by: Dr. Shannon Holmes, University of Georgia

  • 10 year-old G Warmblood
  • Non-painful swelling on right at the level of C1-2
  • Patient was referred for removal of a presumed cystic lesion
  • This was previously aspirated by the rDVM and injected with steroids.
  • This initially resulted in decreased cyst size, but the cyst completely returned after 4-5 weeks.
  • All other physical exam findings were normal
  • The owner was frustrated by recurrence of the cyst and was bothered by appearance during riding.
