Signalment: 2-year-old, male intact, Beagle
History: Found as a stray (age estimated). When he was first obtained, he would cough 4 to 5 times a day. He also had 4-5 episodes of vomiting phlegm when he was first rescued. His current diet is Kirkland's Dry dog food 1-1.5 cups in the morning with several tablespoons of boiled chicken and vegetables and 1 cup of dry dog food in the evening.
Clinical findings: Temp: 100.1F Pulse:96 bpm Resp: 30 bpm BCS: 4.5/9
On presentation, he was bright, alert, and responsive. Thoracic auscultation revealed a left systolic murmur grade V/VI loudest at the base of the heart. Lung fields ausculted clearly. Femoral pulses are synchronous with heartbeat. A small alopecic area was noted on his forehead which the owners then said he has had since they found him and he is not pruritic at home. His mucous membranes are pink and his CRT is < 2 seconds. Abdominal palpation was within normal limits. Peripheral lymph nodes palpate within normal limits.
