2009 Image Interpretation Session - Case 8

Signalment: 1 year old, F (s), mixed breed dog “Lucy”

History: One of four other dog that roam a fenced yard. Other dogs are normal. All dogs are current on vaccinations, heartworm prevention and parasite control is provided year round. All dogs have excellent body condition scores. This patient was down in the yard and appeared to be breathing rapidly.

Other information: Physical examination findings include palpation of subcutaneous emphysema in the neck and head regions. Lungs sounds are increased and an increased respiratory rate was noted. Other physical parameters are within normal limits. The patient’s hair coat was clipped and no external trauma was present.

Study Provided: Radiographs of the thorax, abdomen and neck were obtained.
