In Figure 3, Continuous wave Doppler of the aortic valve shows aortic insufficiency.
Figure 3: The cursor for continuous wave Doppler is in place between the aortic valve leaflets. In the Doppler waveform at the bottom of the figure, aortic insufficiency is displayed above the baseline signifying flow toward the transducer. Normal forward flow in the aorta is displayed below the baseline (flow away from the transducer). LV = left ventricle; RV = right ventricle; LA = left atrium.
